Natal collects no data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Natal has no servers: nothing you do in the app is ever sent to us.

What stays with you

Everything Natal remembers is kept on your own devices:

In the iPhone, iPad and Mac apps this lives in the app's own storage; deleting the app deletes it from that device. In the web version it lives in your browser's local storage for this site; clearing site data deletes it, and “Forget my birth data” in the birth card removes your birth details and saved charts at any time. We cannot see, recover or restore any of it.

When Sync with iCloud is on (the default on Apple devices), your settings, birth details, saved charts and MIDI controller maps are kept in your own iCloud account so they follow you between your iPhone, iPad and Mac. They are stored by Apple under your Apple Account and are never sent to or readable by us. Turn it off in Natal's settings to keep everything on the device.

Sharing a sky

When you share a sky, Natal makes a video or an image and a link, and hands them to your device's share sheet; you choose who gets them and how. The link carries the sky itself, written into the part of the address after the “#”, which browsers never send to any server. Nothing is uploaded and nothing reaches us.

A shared sky carries the sound of your sky: the Sun and Moon, the settings that shape it, the name you give it and, when a birth chart is applied, what the chart does to the music (for example the planets' signs and houses, rounded to what the ear can hear). It never carries your birth date, time or place unless you turn on “Let them keep this chart” for that share; then anyone with the link can see them, so share such a link privately. Even without them, someone who knows astrology could estimate a birthday from a chart's planet signs, so only share someone's sky, and their details, with their permission.

Opening a shared sky in Natal plays it alongside yours without changing or saving over anything of yours. The page that opens a link without the app reads the sky from the link in your browser; it stores nothing and sends nothing.

Purchases

Natal Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment and handles your Apple Account; we never receive your name, email address or payment details. The app asks Apple on your device whether Natal Pro is active, and that answer is all it uses. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in your Apple Account settings.

Permissions, and why they are asked for

Bluetooth
Only to connect the Bluetooth MIDI keyboards and controllers you choose, so you can play Natal from them. On iPhone and iPad, nearby Bluetooth MIDI devices are listed only while you have Apple's Bluetooth MIDI pairing screen open; on the Mac, pairing happens in Audio MIDI Setup.
Motion (headphone head tracking)
Only in Inside the Sky, with headphones that support head tracking, so the sky stays still when you turn your head. The head position is used live for the sound and is never stored or sent anywhere.
MIDI
MIDI in and out talk only to the instruments and apps you connect. On the web, your browser asks before a page can use MIDI devices.
Files
Only the files you pick yourself when exporting or importing controller mappings.

Natal never asks for your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera. Every permission is optional; the instrument works without any of them.

Offline

Natal works fully offline. Its sounds, fonts, place list and astronomy are built in, and it fetches nothing at runtime. The only network traffic is Apple's own: the App Store check for a Natal Pro purchase and, when Sync with iCloud is on, iCloud keeping your settings in step between your devices. Your device handles both.

Crash reports

If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports. They contain technical details about the crash, nothing that identifies you, and you can turn this off in Settings at any time.

Children

Natal is suitable for all ages and collects no information from anyone, including children.
