Getting started
- Tap a sign on the outer ring to place your Sun, then press Play.
- Choose “Place Moon” and tap a sign to place your Moon. The centre names the pairing.
- Shape the sound with the macros: Tide (how much the Moon colours the Sun), Aura (space), Drift (humanize), Eclipse (filter). Change the pace beside the BPM readout.
- Play the scale yourself on the twelve tiles of the scale field.
- Add your birth date, time and city in the birth card and choose Refine. Without Natal Pro you hear a 45-second preview of your chart's sound.
Requires iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or later, or macOS 14 or later.
Questions
- What is free, and what does Natal Pro add?
- Free forever: all 144 Sun × Moon pairings, the twelve voices and their effects, the signature arpeggio, Halo, macros, pace and unlimited play, with no ads. Natal Pro adds your birth chart with planet personalities, saved charts, the Now sky and transits, arpeggio patterns, play modes (Chords, Hold, Transpose), the Field, MIDI in and out with Map mode, and Inside the Sky.
- I bought Natal Pro on another device. How do I unlock it here?
- Natal Pro is a universal purchase for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Sign in with the same Apple Account, open the Natal Pro sheet (any lock, or “Natal Pro…” in the Mac app menu) and choose “Restore purchases”.
- How do I cancel the yearly plan?
- Subscriptions are managed by Apple: open your Apple Account's Subscriptions in Settings (or the App Store on Mac) and cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. The free trial lasts 7 days; cancel during it and you are not charged.
- How do I play Natal from a MIDI keyboard or controller?
- Connect it over USB, the network or Bluetooth. On iPhone and iPad, use “Bluetooth MIDI…” to pair a Bluetooth controller; on the Mac, pair it in Audio MIDI Setup. Notes play the scale in the current play mode. To assign knobs, faders and pads, turn on Map mode (⌘M on the Mac), touch a control in Natal, then move one on your controller.
- What is Inside the Sky?
- A headphone mode that places the orrery around your head: arpeggio notes at their stars, the Moon tone orbiting, your chart's planets where they were in the sky. With headphones that support head tracking, the sky stays still as you turn your head (allow Motion access when asked); “Recentre” sets straight ahead. Drifting sky turns the sky slowly around you. It is designed for headphones; on speakers, leave it off.
- My city isn't in the list.
- The built-in list covers larger towns so it works offline. Pick the nearest one in the same time zone, or enter latitude, longitude and time zone directly. If you don't know your birth time, choose “Time unknown”; Natal uses only what it can be sure of.
- No sound?
- Check the volume and that Play is on. On iPhone, Natal plays with the silent switch on and in the background; if another app took the audio (a call, an alarm), press Play again. If the Field seems silent, it is meant to be very quiet and sits underneath the music.
- Where is my data?
- On your devices. With Sync with iCloud on (the default on Apple devices), your settings, birth details, saved charts and controller maps follow you through your own iCloud account between iPhone, iPad and Mac; turn it off in Natal's settings to keep everything on one device. Natal has no account of its own and we collect nothing. See the privacy policy.
